I remember the first thing I did when I played the original ME was look this up. Wouldn't a Salarian find human and Asari unappealing, just as a human would find a Salarian unappealing? I don't like how the developers just assume that human anatomy is the most I'm pretty sure this info is all found in the codex. It's strange that everyone in the galaxy loves getting down, and loves watching Asari dance. As with other races, how can we say that they derive pleasure from sex? Only very few species on Earth find sex pleasurable. Asari reproduction is completely non-physical. isn't this a bit strange? Physical intimacy for humans is probably a product of our very physical reproductive process. When we're shown Asari strippers, when Asari express the desire to be physically intimate with Shepard or others. I'm also concerned about Asari sexuality.

As someone said in another topic, the concept of gender is really an artificial one to Asari. First of all, how so Asari only have "one gender?" Wouldn't this mean they're genderless? They're neither male nor female, though we perceive them as females. Of course, it really brings up some strange things. However, the offspring is always 100% asari as no DNA is taken from the partner, but is rather used as a "map" to randomize the genes of the I'm pretty sure this info is all found in the codex. This reproductive process can lead to some confusion among non-asari, who might expect offspring with "mixed" genes. However, since the asari began encountering other sentient species, non-asari mates have become preferred for the diversity they provide. The partner can be another asari, or an alien of any gender. Their evolved ability to consciously control nerve impulses is very similar to biotic training. This unique means of reproduction is the reason asari are all talented biotics. Effectively, the asari and her partner briefly become one unified nervous system. A common phrase used before melding is "embrace eternity," presumably to help focus the partner's mind. The second set is altered in a unique process called melding, also known as the joining.ĭuring melding, an asari consciously attunes her nervous system to her partner's, sending and receiving electrical impulses directly through the skin. An asari provides two copies of her own genes to her offspring, which-regardless of the species or sex of the 'father'-is always an asari. Although asari have one gender, they are not asexual.
